Pia

By Calvados x Pilot x Beach Boy.
Bay.
Born 1997. Died 2008.
Registered by the KWPN.

Pia was backed in 2000 and had a filly foal by Condios in 2001, named Condia m2s, retained by Morningside Stud for our breeding program. In 2002 Pia produced a colt by Ekstein, named Vector m2s, which showjumped at 1.30 m. in 2010 and in 2011 is competing in international classes with Italian junior rider Federica Venturi. We did not attempt to put Pia back in foal in 2002 but instead sent her to Henrik Gundersen to begin her showjumping career. In 2004 Pia jumped 1.20 and 1.30 m. in Denmark and was prepared to begin jumping 1.40 m. in 2005 with Dutch Olympic rider Gert-Jan Bruggink when a severe leg injury during transport ended her sport career. In 2006 Pia had a filly foal by the French stallion Hornet Rose (Quidam de Revel - Gold Rose), named Bumblebee Rose m2s, retained by Morningside Stud for our breeding program. In 2007 Pia produced a filly foal by Wang Chung m2s, named Cheng Pei-pei m2s, also retained for our breeding program. In 2008 she produced her last foal, Dedalus m2s, by Ulysses m2s.

Sire: Calvados is a top Grand Prix sire who received the predicate Keur in 2001 by the KWPN in recognition of his outstanding performance in sport and as a sire. Among his accomplishments as a showjumper, Calvados won the Nation's Cup in Falsterbo and the Nation's Cup in Drammen. He has sired many international showjumpers including De Niro and Royal Future. Calvados is by Uriel, perhaps the greatest French showjumping sire of all time. Calvados' dam Gold Rose (by Ibrahim, the sire of Alme Z) was French Conformation Champion, a very successful international Grand Prix jumper, and a member of the French National Showjumping Team from 1979 - 1982.

Dam: Inpuls produced Nurjev, an international jumping stallion by Guidam that reached the second stage of the KWPN stallion inspections and was reported in the press to have sold for euro 1.4 million; the M-level showjumper Oekelo; the 1.30 m. mare Pia; the national jumping mare Royal Graaf; the international showjumping gelding Spike; and the Swedish Warmblod Studbook approved stallion Arandasj.  Dam-sire Pilot is ranked as the world's 5th best sire. Grand-dam Kurina (by Beach Boy, an excellent son of the legendary showjumping sire Zeus) is a German State Premium Mare.
